Engaged and inclusive human societies 2 : Science-7, Think-7, Youth-7 (with simultaneous interpretation french-english)
Building a harmonious and peaceful global civilization will be the work of society as a whole, with all its components - not just national governments.
This day will allow, as is rarely the case in the G7, to hear representatives of civil society from diverse backgrounds
(companies, scientists, think tanks, NGOs, ...) and all categories. The public will receive the messages, which will be delivered the next morning, Monday 6 May, to the environment ministers of 15 countries and to the European Commissioner in charge of the environment.
The 7 G7 engagement groups are: Women-7, Youth-7, Civil-7, Business-7, Labor-7, Think-7, Science-7.
Living Earth : ocean, biodiversity, climat (in French)Auditorium
The Anthropocene is a fact, which humanity becomes aware of in this 21st century.
Beyond the sectoral and disciplinary divisions or borders, there is our Earth with its dynamic equilibrium, a rather stable climate system since 12 000 years and a rather stable biodiversity since ... millions of years until the action of humans, very recently, disrupts in an extremely short time these balances modifying the climate and triggering a massive extinction of biodiversity. A series of current topics concerning oceans, biodiversity and climate will be covered with, above all, many lines of action and solutions, to be implemented as quickly as possible, across the planet.
New : PlasticsStudio
The Ministry for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition will host an event on plastics – a major theme on the agenda of the G7 ministerial meeting. Several companies will be represented. Topics potentially addressed: production, circular economy, substitution, elimination, depollution, regulation.

Climate change and Trade agreements (in english)Auditorium
A subject now unavoidable on the international scene.
ong unknown, neglected or dodged, the compatibility of international trade agreements and international climate agreements is now strategic. The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) commissioned in 2018, "The Economist-Intelligence Unit" a first report on this topic entitled "Climate change and trade agreements: friends or foes?". A speaker from The Economist and a representative from CCI will present the findings of this report and answer questions from the public.
Gender and ecological transition : G.R.E.A.T G7 initiative (in french)Auditorium
Women actresses in the fight against climate change
Equality between women and men is a priority theme for the French G7 Presidency in 2019, in line with Canada's 2018 initiative. The aim of the Gender Responsive Environmental Action Training (G.R.E.A.T) coalition proposed by France is to widen the scope of gender issues to the whole subject of ecological transition. French companies are already very active on the subject and will, during this event, present their most beautiful projects.
Climate strategies : Canada, Eurpean Union, France (with simultaneous interpretation french-english)Studio
New vision and higher ambitions!
A goal like carbon neutrality in 2050 is new and difficult to maintain; it is part of a broad vision in which human activity has managed to reintegrate into balances on a planetary scale and in the very long term. The long-term low carbon strategies of Canada, the European Union and France, approved or in preparation, are distinguished from previous strategies by taking into account new scientific results and by qualitatively new approaches. The presentations will be made by representatives from Canada, the European Commission (DG-CLIMA) and the French Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition.
Finance for biodiversity (in english)Auditorium
Financing for biodiversity must be done.
As with climate policies, the tools of finance must be used to transform infrastructure, reorient investments, and create leverage for biodiversity. The value "alive" and the value "biodiversity" must be imposed on the value "euro" or "dollar". WWF and AXA have produced, at the request of the G7, a study on the financing of actions in favor of biodiversity. The OECD is working on the same subject. The results of these two studies, presented to the G7 ministers during the Metz meeting, will be presented to the public by the representatives of WWF, AXA and the OECD.
